Cousin Love

Hi everyone!  Laurie here with a sweet little layout using a lot of Crate Paper's The Pier collection.  Whimsical Twist has the Slide Frames in stock from this collection -- and if you're a paper fanatic like I am, you know that those have been hard to find!  You'll find so many uses for them, so snatch them up now before they're gone.  And, of course, if you're like me, no layout is complete until you have to have sequins on it, and the store has a beautifully curated selection of colors that will make you swoon. The title is a pink version of these Amy Tangerine Thickers and there are a few enamel dots sprinkled here and there.

The Pier is definately my favorite collection from the summer, but I'm still trying to decide which is my favorite of what is coming out soon!  The shop has lots of great collections available for pre-order, so check them out and get everything you love before it sells out everywhere!

Speaking of favorites, have you entered a project into our favorites challenge?  You could win $15 to spend in the store -- and winning prizes is a favorite of everyone!

Orli Devorah

Well, my computer is still in the shop, but I have found that I uploaded a few pages that I totally forgot about!  I tend to do two types of pages: artsy-fartsy make it artistic pages and functional pages.  Functional pages are still pretty, but really quite sparse comparatively.  Lots of photos, less "visual emotion".  I just made that term up.  "Visual Emotion" -- I kinda like that.  So today I have a functional page to share that I made using mostly Simple Stories Vintage Bliss (which I LOVE btw).

This is from Orli's naming ceremony.  A naming ceremony is sorta (very sorta) like a Christening or baptism, but Jewish.  Basically, everyone gets together and welcomes our lovely little girl to the Jewish people.  It was amazingly touching.

No photos during the ceremony, though, so here we are outside of the Synagogue afterwards (but before Shabbat, of course!)

I made the tallit that we wrapped her in during the ceremony, and these are some fabric scraps left over from the trim of the attarah that I wanted to save because they were pretty and because I'm a pretty sentimental mommy.

(Man, I love that notebook edge punch.  I get so much use out of that thing it's crazy.)

But yes, this is a very simple page that is more about showing photos than creating an artistic moodscape. (Hey, there is another word I just made up that I think I like.  I'm on a roll!)  I think it's good to have both sort of pages.

I hope my computer is repaired soon, I have so many more recent layouts to share!

Sad Apple :(

This is me on the road to the computer repair place.

Hi Friends!

So it seems my laptop is having some, er, technical difficulties (ie. it won't turn on.  At all.) so I'm taking it into the one place in my city that services Macs tomorrow.  Good news: It's under warranty still and I still have my old, slow but functional MacBook to use.  Bad news:  All my photos and editing software are on my broken MacBook Air.  So please, forgive me if posts are sparse this week; once my computer is home from the computer hospital I'll be a posting machine once more.  I just took a ton of photos of layouts to share, so I have lots coming up!  And, of course, I'll be announcing the winner of the Smash Book Pack once the time comes!

xoxo!

Friday Favorites

1. Family Traditions by Adrienne Looman for Webster's Pages.  Feels like Fall.  I am so ready!

2. Bath and Body Work's Autumn candle.  I love fall scents, and this one is so crisp and lovely.  It needs to get about 30 degrees cooler here for it to really seem like fall, but I'm dreaming.

3. Baby Meets World -- This is a great, great book for new parents and anyone interested in the history of how babies have been perceived throughout time.  Super interesting and stress reducing.

4. Gold sequins.  'Nuff said.

5.  Keen Madrid mary janes.  These are discontinued and can be found nowhere.  I have a pair and I love them and I would pay pretty much mad bank to buy about 6 more pairs so I can have them for the next decade.  So if you have any sources, lemme know, kay?

Intro to Edisto

Today I'm sharing a layout made mostly with my latest Citrus Twist Kit - with a bit of stash thrown in for good measure.  Use it up, Wear it out!

I have quite a few instagram photos I'm scrapping right now because I sent a few to walgreens via the Printicular app to see what the quality was like.  I don't usually do prints at Walgreens because they only do glossy photos, but these are sorta a pearly matte.  Not too bad, but not ideal for taking photos of without glare.  (Glare on photos of photos -- #scrapbookingproblems)

I abused the sides of my paper with my scissors which was pretty fun.  I'm doing a lot of sewing on my pages these days -- I no choice on this page, though; my Thickers kept falling off.  Sigh.

I'm loving this page, though.  It really fits the mood of getting to the island.  It was pouring rain; Orli had a cold and had screamed a good portion of the trip.  (We, of course, stopped lots to soothe her!)  Our 2.5 hour trip ended up taking 4 hours.  But we drove across the bridge and the rain slowed down and Orli was asleep and I just exhaled and took in the prettiness on the grey, stressful day.

And that was the start of vacation.

Without further ado, let's get this celebration started!
Our first challenge is inspired by summer!

I hope you're enjoying all the great layouts by my fellow design team members - aren't they great?

Here is the mood board we were all inspired by:

For my layout, I was inspired by the bright pink hue of the watermelon photo for its cheerful, summery feel. The former art major in me says where there is orange, though, you need a blue - so I chose a photo with lots of blue to focus on like the puppy in the float. And here is what I came up with:

I used water soluble crayon for the background color and the border, plus a little Tattered Angels Shimmer Mist for extra color. The stars are punched out of a background I painted but didn't like (I think it looks great as stars, though!) and the paper is Webster's Pages Sweet Notes by Allison Kreft. That binder clip in the corner I had attached to my shirt when I came home from the office, and it was yellow and cute -- so on it went! Throw in some twine, stickers by My Mind's Eye, some enamel dots and a few sequins and you've got yourself a layout!

My motto: Use It! Use It! Use It!

Speaking of, I used: Sweet Notes by Allison Kreft for Websters Pages, MME Tiny Label Stickers, MME Tiny Word Stickers, Travel Girl Tidbits, MME Enamel Dots (are you addicted to these?  I am!), Sequins, water soluble crayons, some Martha Stewart paints, a fiskars star punch, Thickers, a riverbank revels doily, twine, a Citrus Twist Kits exclusive stamp, some washi tape from a Citrus Twist kit, and I think that's a Dear Lizzy roller date stamp.  I have like one million of roller date stamps, so I'm not positive.  Oh, and the dolphin paper clip is from a japanese stationary store.  And the binder clip is from my office, which I accidentally wore home the day I made this layout.

I love that little dolphin paper clip -- isn't it cute?

Leave me a comment and keep on hopping for a chance to win a $15 gift certificate to the Whimsical Twist store. Subscribe to my blog too because I'll be giving away a sweet little Smash prize pack next week to one of the people who comments on this post and/or subscribes to my blog and/or friends me on facebook! Friday Favorites

Here is what I'm grooving on this week:

1. This super cute geotag "Here we are" stamp from Studio Calico.  I can only see about a million ways to use this.  So cute.

2. Franzia Chillable Red Wine.  Never has gross tasted so good.  My husband makes fun of me about this wine.  I do not care.

3. Chewbeads.  For when your baby is in that "must eat necklace" sort of mood.  ie. Always.

4. These debbie downer stamps by Shimelle for Two Peas.  "Not the highlights" - I love it and it cracks me up.

5. Long arm stapler - I saw this used in a Scrappy Jedi video (and she got it from someone else) and now I am obsessed.  WHY DID I NOT THINK OF THIS GENIUS IDEA BEFORE?!!?  Gluing down layers is the pits.  Just staple those mofos and be done with it!
