Another page based off a sketch from the Scrapbook Generation 6x6 paper pad class -- I love that these pages feature lots of photos!

My goal with these pages (besides documenting memories, of course!) was to use up a lot of the little bits and pieces that I had lying on my desk.  I think it came out pretty cute!

  

beautiful & messy motherhood moments

I'm taking "Inspired Scrapbooking" over at Big Picture Classes this year and this is the first fruit of that endeavor.  I feel like all my pages are very baby-centric right now (well duh, I have a 10 month old, right?) but I want to make effort to explore a little more deeply this year.  And yes, the page is still a little baby-centric, but it's a step in the right direction.  My life pretty much revolves around a tiny human who doesn't say too much (except Duck, Art, Cat, Uht-Oh, and Snack) so there will still be a lot of baby.  

Speaking of classes, this year I'm taking:

1. One Little Word with Ali Edwards
2. Inspired Scrapbooking with Stacy Julian
3. 31 Things with Ali Edwards

and I'm ponding doing "Before Your Story" with Jennifer Wilson.  I think I'm in a sweet spot right now to take classes with Orli having a good, early bedtime and me feeling creative and productive when she's sleeping (and still able to be in bed by 10!) -- and the Ali class ends just before the Jennifer class starts.  And the idea of documenting your life before baby is appealing because it's all baby all the time in this house.

Too Much Happy

Happy Wednesday!  Today I wanted to share a cute little layout using both new releases and some Simple Stories Vintage Bliss, which (I can't even believe it!) is a little bit older now.  The colors of Dear Lizzy's Polka Dot Party go perfectly with Vintage Bliss, so I anticipate I'll be using up my Vintage Bliss scraps with the rest of my Polka Dot Party papers -- they just look too cute together!  

This layout uses one of my favorite layout "recipes".  I love the clean, graphical look of a 4x6 and a 2x3 row with the same below but the sides swapped.  There are so many ways to dress it up and it always looks cute!

Standing Like a Big Girl

Today another page created mainly from the September Citrus Twist Main and Pocket Life kits.  Have I mentioned that I LOVE the september kit?  I do.  Such dreamy colors! 

I used had this really cute photo of my daughter standing alone for the first time (well, with the support of the ottoman!).  One print was a misprint from having walgreens print my instagram photos (they cropped them -- I should have known that the would!) but it still had those nice dreamy colors that worked so well with the papers in the kit.  So I pulled it out and paired it with a less dreamy but entirely there photo of Orli and it looked really cute.  There is hidden journaling on the pink card that tucks behind the polka dot paper.  Sometimes journaling just doesn't work with your design -- so hide it!  I like all my pages to have a little journaling, so when it doesn't go with the layout, it just gets tucked behind something else with a little string to pull it out.  

I'm loving that October Afternoon washi.  

I just used a tag for the journaling card that I sprayed with a bit of tattered angels mist and tied a piece of My Mind's eye Lime Twist baker's twine.  Some mist splatters and a mambi chip to indicate that I do, in fact, "love this" and it all came together.

Also, I cannot believe it's the middle of October already.  I am soooooo ready for some turkey!

Happy Friday the Thirteenth!  OoooOOOOOoooooOOOooo!  I have something not at all spooky or haunted or full of bad omens and luck to share with you today.

I don't know why, but I just love this layout.  It makes my heart sing, just a little bit. I think it's the gesso mixed with pink painted on -- it has good texture.

 The background paper is from The Pier collection, and the bits behind the photo are from my scrap bin.  I used a good deal from my July Citrus Twist kit with this one, including the little packing tag that is up in the corner.

Shrimp Night: Sketch Fusion

For this page, I did something that I don't do often -- I used a sketch. I've heard people rave about Alison Davis' sketches so I bought the Simple Stories Sketch Fusion book to give it a try. I had a whole pile of Simple Stories I Heart Summer to use up (I'm sure you'll be seeing a lot on this blog) and a whole lot of photos from vacation, so Alison's picture heavy style seemed to suit my needs. My first attempt came out like this:



It's interesting.  Not really my instinctive style, but not unpleasant.  I won't say its one of my favorite pages ever, but it certainly serves its purpose of telling the story and showcasing lots of photos.

7 photos on one page.  That might be a record for me.  Although I did NOT enjoy all the resizing of photos.  I'm a 4x6 print and go sorta girl. 

I would also like to point out that I do not normally eat shrimp.  One time a year only -- and it's so I'm not left out at Andy's families big shrimp event.  Shalom Bayit, y'all.  Also, that shiz is delish.

Right now I'm not sold, but I have two more sets of photos resized and ready to go for two different sketches from the same book.  I do admit that it's good for vacation where you want to cram a lot of images in a small space.  I'll probably use the sketches for that again.  It won't become my normal mode of scrapping though.  I missed the creating.  It just felt too paint by number for me to use with any regularity.
